Working with The Timber Doctor Franchise

In December 2017, Jodie from The Timber Doctor based in the Gold Coast area came on her own initiative to Konig Australia’s week-long surface repair training to provide new opportunities for her business. Since The Timber Doctor provided high quality of indoor and outdoor timber maintenance and restoration services, the Konig offering allowed her to fill in the niche by offering surface repairs to her customers on the Gold Coast.

The training week is the longest variant of training we offered entailed 5 days of repairing timber, tiles, stone and high gloss surfaces such as pianos and furniture. All the training was conduct under the supervision of our German training technician Christopher, Konig Australia trainer James and director Greg. The weeks’ worth of knowledge provides all participants in-depth practical skills for repairing damaged surfaces.

Jodie was probably one of the quietest participants of the entire week of training. She yielded some good repair results, but the true initiative came from after the training. Jodie put in the work to developing her newly learnt skills and repair damaged surfaces for her customers. Practice can make perfect but putting yourself under the pump provides awareness in the ability to repair for a customer that is expecting the damage to disappear.

After half a year of work aligned with repairing defected timber surfaces Jodie came across a company manufacturing melamine coated walls that split and crack near corners and joints. She contacted Konig Australia and spoke with Greg and James to discuss the best suitable solution for a repair that will be acceptable for the customer. After a trial day of repairing we were able to fix the problem and start a whole new repair sector for Australia through the collaboration between The Timber Doctors Jodie and Konig Australia.

As of today, we provide repairs to new customers all around Australia through The Timber Doctor that started off with the initiative of one-person Jodie. Over the next year we hope to train many more Timber Doctors and provide more Surface Repair Technicians to our customers.
